Imagine a driver who stops at the location for the first time and only wants to use one service. They want to select the charger, fuel pump or car wash and pay directly with a bank card or mobile wallet. Without the hassle of downloading an app, creating an account or entering payment details before being able to continue.
A returning customer, on the other hand, uses a mobile app or loyalty account. Their preferred payment method is already saved, and they can receive personalised prices, loyalty benefits or relevant offers during the transaction.
Another example is a company driver, who identifies themselves with a fleet card or business account. The payment is linked to the company’s agreed pricing and reporting process, making it easier to centrally manage transactions and invoices.
Cloudics Flow & Pay allows all of these journeys to operate side by side, so each customer can use the payment method that best fits their situation – whether it’s an app, a personal or business account, or paying directly with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
The need for straightforward payments is particularly apparent in public EV charging.
Drivers should be able to select a connector, understand the price and begin charging without registering or entering into a subscription. AFIR payment requirements have made this an important consideration when operators install or upgrade public chargers.
One approach is to add a separate payment terminal to every charger. At a larger charging hub, however, this also increases the amount of hardware that needs to be installed, connected and maintained.

Road transport will no longer rely on a single dominant energy carrier (e.g., diesel) but on the synergy among several. The land transport industry generates roughly a quarter to a third of Europe’s CO₂ emissions. Governments are responding with stricter regulations and ambitious timelines, supported by funding mechanisms designed to accelerate infrastructure rollout.
For example, European transport ministers recently underlined the urgency by calling for the rapid deployment of charging corridors capable of supporting heavy-duty electric vehicles. By 2030, more than 400,000 zero-emission trucks are expected on European roads, and the infrastructure must not become the bottleneck.
Yet the forces reshaping logistics are not solely regulatory.
The economic case for change is becoming more compelling by the month. Electric vans already outperform diesel-powered vans on certain routes from a total cost of ownership perspective. Companies like Aegis Energy in the UK are building stations that combine high-power electric charging with hydrogen, biogas and biodiesel, creating what is essentially “fuelling 2.0” for commercial transport. Aegis, a Cloudics partner, aims to cover the UK with 30 such hubs by 2030, supported by £100 million in recently raised investment.
Their value proposition is simple yet powerful. No logistics manager should have to worry about range, access to energy, or service continuity on long-haul routes. The industry is buying not only energy but certainty.

The second model of the privately operated depot runs in parallel. Transport companies with predictable routes and vehicles that return nightly increasingly see depot charging as a strategic asset.
DHL, a pioneer with more than 40,000 electric vehicles in their fleet worldwide, exemplifies this shift. Charging during operational downtime, i.e. overnight or during loading, allows companies to use the cheapest electricity, protect battery health and control one of the most critical cost inputs in logistics.
What matters here is not charging speed but reliability, optimisation and full readiness at the start of each workday.

The real breakthrough will come when these two models are integrated through technology.
Imagine a logistics ecosystem in which public hubs share real-time availability with transport management systems, and high-power charging can be booked automatically based on route planning. At the same time, depot systems plan their load intelligently, ensuring vehicles are fully charged while electricity costs remain minimal.

Through this collaboration, all Rezzo EV chargers are now integrated into ChargeHub’s Passport roaming hub, enhancing accessibility and encouraging greater use of Rezzo charging stations.
This partnership also opens up the Rezzo charging network to e-mobility service providers (eMSPs), expanding their range of available charging options.
Rezzo’s charging network is now fully integrated with ChargeHub’s roaming platform, which includes more than 120,000 charging stations across the region.

May 2023 marks a milestone for Cloudics & Rezzo collaboration. Phase 1 deployment of the RL Energies charging network in Quebec, Canada, has been completed. A 12-month journey of hard work has paid off, and 20 EV chargers across RL Energies and Belzile energy stations have been set up, with 10 of them being ultra-fast (160kW) and other 10 fast 50kW charging points.
